HAZEL EARNEST Obituary

Hazel I. Earnest, 91, of Kansas City, MO, formerly of Oak Harbor, WA passed away April 21, 2015. She was born July 11, 1923 in Sapulpa, OK to George B. and Esta M. (Crossman) Doty. She graduated from Sapulpa High School and received her degree as a registered nurse from the Queen of Angels School of Nursing in Los Angeles, CA. Following nursing school, she met her future husband, Burt Earnest. They were married in 1948 and later divorced in 1970. Hazel spent the majority of her working years at the Whidbey General Hospital in Oak Harbor. She was preceded in death by her parents and nine siblings. Survivors include her two sons, Steven Earnest of Kansas City, MO and Ronald Earnest (Jeanne) of Sedro Wooley, WA; four grandchildren, Joshua, Daniel, John and Anna; and three great grandchildren. Per Hazel's request, cremation will take place and her ashes will be returned to Oak Harbor. Memorial contributions are suggested to the favorite charity of the donor's choice. The Meyers Northland Chapel in Parkville is in charge of Hazel's final arrangements.
