Ida Langley Obituary

After many years of continuing illnesses and due to aging, Ida Ruth Langley died at her son's Overland Park home on August 16, 2004. Born on the family farm in mid-central Missouri (Linn County) on September 27, 1917, Mrs. Langley lived her early-wedded life in Jefferson City, MO. Then the small family moved to the 37th & Highland area and later to the west Plaza area (KCMO). For many years prior to 2000, Ms. Langley lived in St. Peters, MO near her daughter, and then moved back to the Kansas City area. In 2000, following declining health she resided with her son in Overland Park, KS. Ms. Langley was a member of the First Baptist Church of St. Peters and was previously active in several church related social groups. She loved to travel and did so inside and outside the United States. In earlier years she had been employed by Bendix and retired from employment with the City of Kansas City, MO. She is survived by her three children, Thomas J. Langley, Alan K. (Al) Langley and Debra D. Oxler, nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Services for immediate family only. In lieu of flowers, family requests donations to The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. Furthur inquiries can be made after August 23, 2004 at (913) 383-1233. (Arr: Cremation Society of KS & MO, 8837 Roe Ave., Prairie Village, KS (913) 383-9888)
