JAMES GUTRIDGE Obituary

James (Jim) Stanley Gutridge, 89, of Lee's Summit, Mo., passed away July 3, 2011, at Centerpoint Medical Center. Born Oct. 10, 1921, he graduated from Ridgeway, Mo., high school and served in the U.S. Navy during WWII on the USS Antietam as a Petty Officer, first class. He worked for Milgram's Food Stores for 40 years, rising from clerk to store manager. He married Nadine Elaine Buntin and was totally devoted to her for over 70 years. Jim was vice president of the PTA in 1962, and coached his son in Little League baseball for many years. "Grandad" was a loving grandfather and will be missed by his five grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Nadine; children, Marilyn Hamner (husband Don), Shawnee, Kan., and James (wife Rae), Louisburg, Kan.; nephew, Ronald Gibson, Indianapolis, Ind. He is preceded in death by his parents, Gladius and Edna Gutridge and his sister, Mary Evelyn Gibson. Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the American Cancer Society. Visitation services will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, July 8, at the Langsford Funeral Home, 115 SW Third St., Lee's Summit, MO 64063 (816) 524-3700.
