Palm Desert, California - James Harry Kartsonis, age 90, died unexpectedly on August 13, 2023 at his home in Palm Desert, California. He was born on June 12, 1933 in Newton, Kansas, the son of Harry and Georgia Kartsonis of Elinitsa, Greece.
James grew up in Hutchinson, Kansas and attended junior college for a year and then joined the air force, spending time in Mississippi, California and Japan. After returning from the military, he finished junior college and then attended and graduated from University of Kansas.
James married Laura Charlotte Feist in Hutchinson Kansas on November 26, 1961. They began their life in Overland Park, Kansas where James began a long-serving and very successful career at IBM. He began as a systems engineer, then graduated to sales and continued to be promoted and became manager of larger and larger accounts. Their daughters Christina and Georgina were born in Kansas City, MO. James was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and friend. He had an incredibly positive attitude towards life and others. He lived by the mantra "Don't worry, be happy" . He is survived by his wife, Laura, daughters Christina Bear (Richard Bear) and Georgina Kartsonis, sister Billie Spirides, granddaughter, Danielle Haft (Sam Haft) and grandsons Jordan and Dylan Bear. He will be greatly missed and never forgotten. His life touched the lives of many.
