JANE JACKSON Obituary

Jane E. Jackson, 88, of Leawood, Kansas, died in her home on November 17, 2013. The daughter of Oscar W. and Mabel K. Mathewson, she was born January 12, 1925, in Chicago, Illinois. She attended the University of Illinois where she met her husband, Dr. Dale E. Jackson. After he returned from the Pacific Theater, they were married in Chicago on September 19, 1946. Jane became a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Colonial Dames in Wilmington, Delaware, where her husband was a research chemist with Dupont. Her love of history led to a fascination with antiques, a passion that lasted her entire life. After moving to Kansas City in 1956, she began her career as an antiques appraiser with the Antiques Appraisal Association. Jane's husband, Dale, and her brother, John M. Mathewson, preceded her in death. She is survived by her daughter Susan (Dr. Steven) Whitfield of Leawood, Kansas; her son, the Reverend James Jackson, FSSP, of Littleton, Colorado; her grandchildren John and James Schweiker; her step-grandchildren Jessica and Jonathan Whitfield; her sister, Joan Babecki; her sister-in-law, Gertrude Mathewson; her nieces, Peg Krews, Jean Jans, Ann Irmas, Jill Kienow, Marilyn Mathewson, Kristyn Mowen, and Amy Mathewson; her nephews, Robert Jacobus and James Mathewson; and her son and daughter of the heart, Steven and Holli Pearson. Jane loved trout fishing, camping, and skiing in the Rocky Mountains, playing the piano, antiquing, watching hockey, gardening, chatting with her friends, and 'making do.' Her devotion to her family was both extraordinary and exemplary. She was a blessing to all who knew her. Visitation will be at McGilley State Line Chapel on Tuesday, November 19, from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m., followed by the holy Rosary. A Requiem Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, November 20, at St. Rose Philippine Duchesne Church, 5035 Rainbow Boulevard, Mission Woods, Kansas, at 10:00 a.m. A private burial will follow. Memorial donations may be made to Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, 5620 South Hickory Circle, Littleton, Colorado 80120, for the building of a shrine in honor of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel in Jane's memory. Condolences may be left online at www.mcgilleystatelinechapel.com. Arrangements, McGilley State Line Chapel, 12301 State Line Road, Kansas City, MO. Dear Father Jackson,
Your Mother quite generously earned her eternal reward in this world. She will be one of those shining stars in the firmament that will light up the mercy seat of God. And you will be one of the greatest shining jewels in her crown of glory. I pray that she will have truly gained eternal life
immediately upon her death, with no layover in Purgatory. God will certainly say to her, "Well done good & faithful servant. Enter into to the joy of your Lord."

May our merciful and sweetest Jesus grant you His peace, consolation and strength in your loss.

I am keeping you, your Mother and your family in my prayers. I offered Mass, Holy Communion and a rosary last Sunday, the day she died for the repose of her soul and for you and the rest of your family.

Your Mother will be sorely missed.

All of your parishioners owe your mother a debt of gratitude for her generous magniminity in purchasing the magnificent marble altars for our beautiful new church.

God bless and keep you and all of your loved ones.

Sincerely yours, from the least of your parish sheep,

Andy McKinley

A Rocky Mountain trout fisherwoman who was the loveliest lady at a tea party: what a winning combination! My kind of woman, for sure. We should all strive to be more like her when we "grow up". A blessing to all who knew her, indeed. May your many, many wonderful memories of her continue to bless you always.
