John Michael "Mike" Curran
February 19, 1942 - March 4, 2024
Lee's Summit, Missouri - Mike Curran, 82, of Lee's Summit, MO quietly passed away in his home on March 4, 2024. Mike was born and raised in Fort Worth, Texas, graduating from Laneri High School in 1959. He earned a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, and a Master's Degree in Business Administration from Texas Tech University, Lubbock, TX. Following his college years, Mike was commissioned a 1st Lieutenant in the US Army. His career was spent working for the Trane Company and later became co-owner of Technical Equipment Company, a manufacturing representative firm. Mike strategically decided to retire on December 31, 1999 claiming "he just was not Y2K compliant." His warm sense of humor will be missed. Mike and Audrey had lived in Lakewood since 1976. Daughter Kim remembers fondly her parents' love of golf, ski trips to Colorado, and spending time with their countless array of good friends. Life for the Currans was all about having fun! In retirement, Mike and Audrey became snowbirds and spent their winters in Bradenton, Florida. Wherever these two were, you could count on a group of friends encircling them and having a great time together. Each spring return trip to Lee's Summit brought them home in time for golf season in Lakewood. Mike belonged to several men's golf groups and served as a board member of the Lakewood Oaks Golf Club. Audrey, Mike's beloved wife & partner for 57 years, preceded him in death. He is survived by his daughter, Kimberly Curran (Dave Jennings II) of Lee's Summit, MO. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, April 20, 2024 6:00-8:00pm at Lakewood Oaks Country Club, 651 NE St. Andrews Circle, Lee's Summit, MO. In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to KC Hospice, in continued honor of Audrey and the support she received during her illness. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at
