Joseph Brian Carlisle

April 1, 1949 - July 14, 2024

Kansas City, MO, Kansas - Joseph Brian Carlisle, age 75, died July 14 after a lifelong battle with Multiple Sclerosis. He was born in Caracas, Venezuela, to Dorothea (Crumley) and Joseph Doss Carlisle and spent his childhood in Tulsa, OK, and Springfield, MO. Joe turned his deep passion for rock & roll and gift of conversation into a successful career as a stereo salesperson at Brandsmart in Kansas City, MO, where he met Dee (Dorothy) Tepper Carlisle, his wife of nearly 33 years. They shared a love of music, a house full of beloved pets, and an appreciation for BBQ, while fighting mightily against a terrible and unrelenting disease. He went on to work at Gateway Computers for 10 years, was a docent emeritus with the Kansas City Zoo, carried the Olympic Torch in the Salt Lake 2002 Torch Relay, and enthusiastically cheered for the Kansas City Chiefs. He was preceded in death by his parents and sibling, Mary Pinsoneault, and lives on in the memories of his spouse, twins Dana Carlisle Kletchka (Paul) and Daniel Joseph Carlisle, and grandchildren AJ and Ian Kletchka. There will be a celebration of life at the Kansas City Zoo on August 1 at 3:00 p.m. Donations in his honor may be made to the Kansas City Zoo as a Memorial Gift.

My Uncle Joe was truly one if the best humans I've met. He was my mother Mary's younger brother. He was kind, funny and could have beat anyone at Name that
Tune. He taught me how to fly a kite and hated it when my sister and I messed around in his room. There's one less hero in my life but whenever I see a kite on a sunny day I'll know he's smiling down on me. Rest in peace Dream Weaver. xxoo
