Joseph Peppard Obituary

Joseph Greer Peppard
January 30, 1967 - January 18, 2022
Phoenix, Arizona - Joseph Greer Peppard, named for his father and grandfather, died in Phoenix on Jan. 18, 2022. He was born in Kansas City on Jan. 30, 1967. He graduated Pembroke Hill School. He loved to play soccer. His friends nicknamed him Pepe for his enthusiasm, a name some continued to use years later.
He attended Arizona State, met Debra Totten, and married her in 1994. In the late nineties he returned to Kansas City where he reunited with friends and family. But the lure of the Southwest called him back to the land around Phoenix, where he hiked and, on occasion, hunted. His last years have been challenging. Per his request, he will be cremated and his ashes scattered on Camelback Mountain. His friends will remember his outgoing personality, his skill at cooking and how he loved to throw a great party.

While at Arizona State, myself and two other guys along with Joe, went to Mazatlan by train. All good memories of him. He had a big heart and we hung out on occasion afterwards but I returned to my native MN as he went to KC. If any family or friends read this please call me Kyle Maunu 218 5917498.

Pepe was taken from us far before his time. As a "lifer" at Pembroke (Day) Hill school I'd known Joe since kindergarten. He was always passionate about whatever he was focused on in the moment. For those who know the history of Joe's family the specter of tragedy has always loomed large. He will be missed but remembered. Despite the hard times that he had so recently suffered I will cherish the memories we shared as kids. His family is in our thoughts and his indefatigable spirit will live on on the hearts of those who will tell his story. My condolences to his family.
