JOYCE A. MAURER

Joyce Ann Maurer, 77, of Kearney, Mo., passed away December 11, 2015, at St. Luke's Hospital on the Plaza. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 15, with Recitation of the Rosary at 6 p.m. at the Church of the Annunciation in Kearney. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. at the church. Lunch will follow the Mass, then entombment will be at 1:30 p.m. at Resurrection Cemetery in Lenexa, Kan., all under the direction of Hidden Valley Funeral Home of Kearney. Joyce was born in Cincinnati, Ohio. She was a graduate of Seaton High School in Cincinnati and was a graduate of Avila College. She received her Masters Degree as a Nurse Practitionership from the University of Kansas Medical School. Joyce worked 17 years at Baptist Medical Center ER, followed by nine years at St. Luke's Hospital (KCMO). She retired from Truman Medical Center (KCMO). Joyce was an active member of her church groups, youth groups, and social groups. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She is survived by husband, Richard Maurer, of 56 years. Joyce is also survived by 10 children, Gregory (Rita), Mark (Michelle), Steven (Dawnlee), Kevin (Donnette), Angela Hall (Brian), Michael (Patty), Andrew (Stephanie), Thomas (Tess), Mary Maurer-Wall (Charles) and David (Nicole); 23 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Ann Snyder, and Janet Thrasher; six dogs.
