Overland Park, Kansas - Joy E. Ottenad, 95, of Prairie Village, Kansas passed away August 11, 2021 at Care Haven Homes. Funeral services will be scheduled for a later date.
Joy was born in Greenfield, Missouri on September 21, 1925 to Opal and Everett Wilson, She married Richard E. (Dick) Ottenad on April 2, 1955 and had one son, Richard E. (Ric) Ottenad II. She lived in Leawood, Kansas until Dick's retirement when they enjoyed living in Hilton Head, South Carolina and Sun City, Arizona.
Joy earned her teaching degree from Stephens College and the University of Missouri in Columbia. She was a member of the Village Presbyterian Church, the Johnson County Young Matrons, Daughters of the American Revolution and the Alpha Gamma Delta sorority.
Joy was preceded in death by her parents, Opal and Everett Wilson, her husband Richard E. Ottenad, son Richard E. Ottenad II and her sister Jane Morgan. She is survived by nieces and nephews.
She was loved by everyone and will be deeply missed by family and friends.
We would also like to thank her caregivers at Care Haven and Thoughtful Care for their wonderful care for Joy.
