Prairie Village, Kansas - Katherine Barrington Bagby, 73, of Prairie Village, Kansas, passed away peacefully November 22, 2025 surrounded by family. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM - 12:00 Noon on Monday, December 1st at the McGilley & Hoge Chapel, 8024 Santa Fe Drive, Overland Park, Kansas 66204. A Celebration of Life will be from 4:30 PM - 7:00 PM on Monday, December 1st at the Meadowbrook Park Clubhouse, 9101 Nall Avenue, Prairie Village, Kansas 66207. Memorial contributions may be made to the Love Fund for Children.
The daughter of Joseph T. Barrington and Katherine Petersen Barrington, Kathy grew up in Prairie Village, Kansas and attended Shawnee Mission South high school where she developed a strong group of friends that she remained very close to her entire life. Kathy later attended Kansas University where she majored in Education and was a proud member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority.
A lifelong teacher, Kathy poured her heart into education. She approached every classroom, every student, and every colleague with warmth, passion, and unwavering kindness. Her ability to make others feel seen, supported, and encouraged shaped countless lives and left a legacy of compassion and curiosity that will endure for generations.
Kathy was a devoted mother, friend, and neighbor. But above all, her greatest joy in life was being "Nanny" to her beloved grandchildren. She was endlessly proud of them, cherishing every milestone, moment, and memory. Her love for her family was boundless, and she gave it freely and fully.
Kathy is survived by her sons, Christopher Bagby of Urbandale, Iowa, and his family-wife Kathy, grandson Graham, and granddaughter Caroline; and Bradford Bagby of Prairie Village, Kansas, and his family-wife Lisa, grandson Ben, grandson Joseph, and granddaughter Anne.
She was preceded in death by her father Joseph Thomas Barrington, mother Katherine Petersen Barrington, step mother Helen E. Barrington, brother Douglas Steven Barrington, and grandson Bradford Petersen Bagby Jr.
Kathy will be remembered for her passion, her gentleness, the joy she found in others, and the immeasurable love she gave to her family and friends. She leaves behind a lifetime of lessons, laughter, and love that will continue to inspire all who knew her!!!
