KENT MATHEWS

1946 - 2016

Kent Mathews, born March 4, 1946 in Kansas City, MO, died February 6, 2016. He had fought a courageous battle against juvenile onset Diabetes for almost 60 years. Kent spent 22 years with The Lee Co., Merriam, KS. He subsequently held positions with: Jack Winter, Grafton, WI; Kellwood, St. Louis, MO and Employers Reinsurance Corporation, Overland Park, KS. Kent loved time spent with his family. He enjoyed soccer, nature and had a love of reptiles. He graduated from North Kansas City High School and Ottawa University. He will be deeply missed. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and a nephew. He is survived by: his wife of 50 years, Judy Storey Mathews; sons Scott (Sarah) Mathews and Mark (Penny) Mathews; brother, Bruce (Melanie) Mathews; grandchildren Parker, Duncan, George, Logan and Alix, three nieces and nine nephews. A celebration of Kent's life will be held on Feb. 13, 3:30 -5:30 pm, at Mission Hills Country Club, 5400 Mission Dr., Prairie Village, KS.
