Lloyd Craig Obituary

Lloyd Charles "Jack" Craig was born April 3, 1920 in Springbrook, ND, son of Anna (Vaughn) and William E. Craig. He passed away January 11, 2008 in Kansas City, MO. On October 21, 1945 he married Dorothy Kathleen Coffee. He is survived by his son Chuck Craig and wife Anita; daughter Kathleen J. and husband Ron Hoeltge; four grandchildren Amy Doll, Craig Whitehead, Aaron Craig, Allison Hodina and their spouses; seven great-grandchildren; sister Geraldine O'Donnell of Seattle, WA; and brother Sterling Craig of Fulton, MO. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Dorothy, brother Cletus Craig, and sisters Opal Craig, Pearl Preston and Orele Schaum. Lloyd moved from North Dakota to Millersburg, MO at age 16. After finishing high school, he served four years in the U.S. Army 7th Calvary in the Pacific Theatre during World War II. He worked over 30 years for the US Postal Service delivering mail in Kansas City and Raytown, MO. He was co- owner of Twilight Coach Mfg. and marketed his pickup covers and campers at the KC Sports Show. After retirement he began working as a shop foreman for Pickup Palace (KCMO) retiring after 22 years, before becoming shop foreman at Black Jack Truck Accessories (Lee's Summit). He was a member of Tirey Ford American Legion Post #21 in Independence, MO and enjoyed the many friends he had there. Visitation will be from 2-3 p.m. followed by funeral services at 3 p.m. Thursday, January 17, at Mt. Moriah & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Rd., Kansas City, MO. Burial in Mt. Moriah Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Legion Tirey Ford Post# 21, 16701 E. US 40 Hwy., Independence, MO 64055. (Arr: Mt. Moriah & Freeman 816-942- 2004)

I was saddened to hear of Jack's passing. Jack and I worked next to each other at the Longview PO in the 1960,s. He was an inspiration to me, a hard worker and a nice guy.
