Lorene Day Obituary

Lorene Soule Day went to be with the Lord, December 17, 2003. Lorene was born March 4, 1914 in Kansas City, KS, to Clay and Ethel Soule. She married Dr. Hughes Day in 1940 and they were married 50 years, before his death in 1990. Lorene served in the Wyandotte County Medical Auxiliary, the YWCA, and Meals on Wheels. Because of her deep faith in Christ she was actively involved in the Women's Auxiliary at City Union Mission, First United Presbyterian Church of Kansas City, KS and Hillcrest Covenant Church in Prairie Village, KS. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hughes Day, her brother, Howard Soule and her sister, Lucile Stewart. She is survived by her children, Kathy and Glenn Harding of Overland Park, KS, Warren and Barbara Day of Minneapolis, MN, Howard and Helen Day of Wichita, KS. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Jeff and Patti Harding, Nathan and Liz Harding, Kristen and Shawn Lewis, Rachel and Kurt Gueldner, Michele and Chad Engelbrecht, Ryan Day and Lori Day. She had 14 great-grandchildren and was affectionately known as "GG" to Kiel, Riley, Katie, Carson, Ashten, Quinn, Michaela, Brett, Cross, Jacob, Christian, Addisen and two yet unborn. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, December 21, at 1:30 p.m. at Hillcrest Covenant Church, 8801 Nall. The family wishes to thank Odyssey Hospice and the nursing staff in the Alzheimer's Unit at Shawnee Gardens for their loving care. A memorial fund has been established at Hillcrest Covenant Church.
