LOUIS JOHNSON Obituary

Louis Malcolm Johnson, 95, Lee's Summit, MO passed away March 6, 2017. Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Sunday, March 12, at Mt. Moriah, Newcomer & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Rd. Burial in Mt. Moriah Cemetery. Louis was born April 14, 1921 in Montrose, MO, son of Lewis C. and Martha (Odle) Johnson. He was a U.S. Navy veteran. Louis retired in 1976 after 33 years with the U.S. Postal Service. He was also a MO Real Estate Board member. He was a member of American Legion Post #21, Legion of Honor Unit-Ararat Shrine, Elks Club Post 26, 50 year member of Masonic Lodge, and VFW lifetime member Post 1000. Whether coaching 3&2 Little League, leading Boy Scout Troop 55 and Cub Scout 144, delivering Meals on Wheels, driving kids from KC to Shriner's Hospitals for treatment, Louis was always there to help. He was also a member of the Tribe of Mic-O-Say. Louis was rough and gruff but his heart was large. He enjoyed fishing, sports, traveling, dancing, and spending time with friends and family. He was preceded in death by his parents and son Johnny, Louis is survived by his wife of 72 years, Elsie, daughter and son-in-law Kathy and Leonard, son and daughter-in-law Chuck and Stacey, grandchildren Lara, Kaley, Hilary, Ashley, Cody and Collin, and great-grandchildren Hazel, Georgia, Louie and Frankie.
