MADELYN NORWOOD Obituary

MADELYN 'KIKI' SHINN NORWOOD 1929-2014 Kiki Norwood, 84, of Kansas City, MO, passed away January 12, 2014 after a brief illness. The Rosary will be said at 5:00 p.m. followed by the visitation until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, January 17 at St. Peter's Church, 6415 Holmes Rd, Kansas City, MO. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 18 at St. Peter's Church. Memorial contributions may be given to St. Peter's Church 6415 Holmes Kansas City, MO 64131 or St. Joseph's Indian School 1301 N. Main St., Chamberlain, South Dakota 57325. Kiki was born July 29, 1929, the daughter of Henry J. and Jean (Cummings) Naud, in Detroit, Michigan. She was an art education instructor her entire life working in several schools including Kansas City Public Schools and Donnelly College as well as offering private lessons in her home. Most of her spare time was spent volunteering for many organizations. Volunteering at The Nelson Atkins Art Gallery brought her the most joy. Traveling the world was another of her passions. She is preceded in death by her three siblings, Patricia, Joseph and Delores. She is survived by her husband of over 20 years, David Norwood; daughter, Heather Shinn (Cary Jackson); son, Stephen Shinn (Leslie Phillips); son, Andrew Shinn; three grandsons; one great- granddaughter; two step sons, Peter Norwood (Anne); Graham Norwood (Sam); daughter by choice, Peggy Quarles; and former husband, Bob Shinn. She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews and countless friends and acquaintances. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.muehlebachchapel.com. Muehlebach Funeral Care. Kiki has been a great friend to our family for many years. Such a beautiful, caring, vibrant and thoughtful person. My heart goes out to David and all her family and friends. She was a wonderful example of a strong, loving woman and will be missed by so many.

I worked with Madelyn at Donnely College. She was a delight to work and be with. She was worked long and hard for our Multicultural Panel at Donnelly. My prayers for David and the family.
