I, and my family, were saddened to learn of Marcia's passing. Our condolences to Sherrie, Kyle, Matt, and all of the family. I always considered Marcia a very intelligent and involved person, as evidenced by her participation in community and civic affairs. She and Donna became close working together with the Brookwood Elementary PTA. As I recall, they were back to back PTA Presidents! Once again, our thoughts are with you in your time of loss.

Marcia was Mayor of Leawood, Kansas while I was City Engineer.
She was always fair, supported staff and never hesitated to respond to the public on contentious projects (of which there were many). She was EMPHATIC about staff members disclosing any conflicts of interest (real or perceived) that might exist on projects in the city.
She was Mayor as Leawood transitioned from being a bedroom community to the thriving suburb that it is today.
I learned from her about the relationship between public officials and the public that they serve.

Marcia was my favorite teacher, as Mlle. Kyle when I was in 8th and 9th grades at Hocker Grove and as Mme. Rinehart my sophomore year at SMN. The summer that Sheridan was born, Marcia invited me to visit. I brought a stuffed animal (lamb? bunny?). We chatted and drank iced tea (my first taste of Constant Comment). Marcia was pleased that I was headed to KU that fall, planning to major in French. Five years later, I began teaching French, but I never came close to her excellence in the classroom. We stayed in touch over the years, but I'm sad to say that I haven't seen her since I came home for a class reunion in 2019. She was an amazing woman, and I feel very lucky to have known her. Please accept my heartfelt condolences - such a huge loss!

I loved talking to Marcia. I was her housekeeper for years. I loved hearing her stories. I loved hearing how her kids are doing. I felt like I was part of her family. She was an inspiration. She will be missed for sure. My condolences to her children and her family. Praying for you all. Kelly
