Marie Guckenheimer Obituary

Marie C. Guckenheimer, 96, Overland Park, KS, passed away Sunday, February 27, 2005, at Garden Terrace. Graveside services will be Wednesday, March 2 at 12 noon at Kehilath Israel Blue Ridge Cemetery, in the chapel. Kindly omit flowers, family suggests contributions to Guckenheimer Fund at the Jewish Community Foundation. Mrs. Guckenheimer was born in Aachen, Germany on February 18, 1909, to Thomas Kreusch and Kathrina Jennes Kreusch. She moved to Monchengladbach, Germany in 1912, where she later met her husband Julius. They were married August 28, 1935. In 1942, they escaped from Europe and made their way to New York City. She spent the early years in the city, manufacturing perfumes. Later, she and her sister-in-law owned and operated a fine confectionery business, which they operated until her retirement. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1988. In 1991, she moved to Overland Park, KS, to be with her brother-in-law Ernest Guckenheimer and his son Dan. She is survived by three nephews and their wives, Eric and Vivien Guckenheimer, Rockville, MD, Peter and Sylvia Guckenheimer, Santa Rosa, CA, and Dan and Helen Guckenheimer; seven great and six great-great-nieces and nephews.
