Martin Stevens Obituary

Martin Lynn Stevens, 38, died Sunday, May 31, 2009 after a brief but valiant battle with cancer. Martin was born April 16, 1971 in Kansas City, Kansas, and though he resided near Austin, Texas, for the last few years, he was always a Missourian at heart. Martin will be deeply missed by family and friends in Missouri, Texas and Nebraska. After graduating from Odessa High School in 1989, Martin served his country in the United States Marine Corps from June 1989 until July 2001. Prior to his illness, Martin was employed by Academy Sports in Temple, Texas. Martin is survived by his wife, Kathleen Cordell of Harker Heights, Texas; daughters, Elizabeth, 9, and Madelyn, 5. He is also survived by his mother and her husband, Linda and Will Pittengerm of Kansas City, Missouri; and his three sisters, Pamela Swarts of Lawson, Missouri, her husband Aaron, children Jordan, Ian and Dominique; Lori Zimmerman of Kansas City, Missouri, her husband Herschell, children Taylor and Derrick; and Donna Hutton of Kansas City, Missouri, children Dylan and Nicole. A memorial service will be held in Temple, Texas, on Wednesday, June 3, 2009. There will be a graveside service at the Kingston Cemetery, where Martin will be laid to rest, in Kingston, Missouri, on Saturday, June 6, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. Graveside services are under the direction of Pitts Funeral Home in Braymer, Missouri.

My prayers are with your family. I went to school with Martin. It was a pleasure seeing him at our last class reunion. He will be missed dearly. He is with our Lord, Jesus Christ.
