Overland Park, Kansas - Mary "Sue" Karl, 85, passed away peacefully, June 27, 2024. The rosary will be prayed at 9:30 am Thursday, July 11, 2024, at Cure of Ars Church, 9401 Mission Rd, Leawood, KS 66206, followed by Visitation until 11:00 am when Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. I had the privilege and pleasure to work with Sue and Judge Karl when they were co-presidents of the Rockhurst University Parents Council. Both always smiling; Sue always exuberant. Sue indeed radiated joy and the can-do spirit of a leader. Kindness also radiated from Sue and Jim, and I thought them perfectly matched and the best of parents. Their support lifted me so many times. I cherish the opportunity to have known them together. My heart is with Judge Karl, the family and all those who loved and were loved by Sue. She will remain in memory forever.

May the Lord give rest and peace to my dearly departed Godmother, Sue Karl. Given the fact that my parents raised 10 kids in the Catholic faith, and given the fact that the Karls were the very first set of Godparents selected, says a lot as to the trust, respect, and love that my parents had for the Karls, a relationship that started in the sweaty locker room of Mason-Halpin Fieldhouse on the campus of what was then Rockhurst College. Since I live in Dayton, Ohio, I will be unable to attend the funeral. I will however, however, pray for the repose of her soul and ask the Lord to give comfort to her family when I attend Mass here in Dayton.
