I knew "Zero" during our K-State days in the late '70s. He was the ultimate Lady Wildcat fan and rarely missed a game! You could always count on Zero to entertain the fans by juggling basketballs at halftime. His kindness, compassion and his amazing sense of humor will never be forgotten. RIP Kevin.

My best Zero memory was when ESPN first came out we had cable at the house. I worked for the railroad and I was leaving around 3am and he's up watching bowling on BLACK AND WHITE tv. I never met anyone else who loved sports like Zero!

I met Kevin while attending KSU we lived in the same dorm. I'm not exactly sure how we met or the circumstances everyone knew "Zero" the always easy going gregarious guy in the food line at the games, walking on campus. It didnt matter what color you were either he just befriended you with no conditions. He found out one day that I along with another dormmate were regretting how we could not make it to KC to see Earth Wind & Fire because I was friends with the opening act Pockets. They were from my hometown of Baltimore. "Juice" who was from Newark just wanted to hear some music other than the C & W music we had been overdosed on since our arrival to Manhattan, KS. Kevin said he would drive to Kemper no problem as he absolutely was very much into EW&F. We drove to KC on one of the coldest Kansas afternoons imaginable with no heat in the car...something Kevin failed to tell us. We didnt mind as we were filled with anticipation of going to the concert and seeing EWF and my friends in Pockets. We arrived the Kemper is packed. The music starts and Kevin is no where to be found. Fearing for the worst(Kevin that night was in the minority and we were in the majority) we saw a commotion to the side of us as an impromptu circle had formed we went over expecting there was some conflict only to find Kevin in the middle of the circle dancing his but off with this young lady! The crowd was going nuts as he held his own and everybody just urged both of them on. He danced all night and we just shook our heads in disbelief as he acquired an instant fan club of girls for the night! We drove back to Manhattan to blacks guys and one white guy cold and smiling. it was a night to remember. God Bless Kevin, Rest Peacefully in Heaven.

I can only imagine what it was like when he arrived in heaven...I am sure he went in with the same bravado he shared with us. It was alluring, a ball of light and surge of energy, you couldn't get enough. He will be painfully missed but left me a better person for knowing him. Rest in Peace my friend, it is well, we shall carry on...

Met Kevin in 1976, while on staff at the Bartle Scout Reservation. Over the course of several years we worked together at camp and in the hotel business. A dear friend possessed of boundless energy and passionate about the good times. You will be dearly missed and I will take a couple of aspirin in your honor.

Kevin was truly one of "the great ones" back in our days of staff at scout camp. It was great that he was able to maintain a friendship with many of us over the years and his passing comes way too soon. His memory will linger around the campfires of scouting for years to come.

Kevin, I don't remember how, when, or why you got saddled with that "ZERO" moniker but in my book, you are anything but. I cannot think of you without smiling ear-to-ear. Man did we have fun. From our initial meeting in Corinth Elementary 5th Grade, and on through Meadowbrook Jr. High, Shawnee Mission East HS, and Kansas State University, we had nothing but good times. Sticking salmon balls on the cafeteria ceiling at Corinth, smoking cigars at Shakey's Pizza (when we were 15), sharing crude jokes over "fishbowls" at Mel's in Manhattan, and just remembering you laughing so hard your tears streamed down - is making my own do the same now. At least that's part of the reason why. God bless you my friend - and wait until AFTER St. Peter lets you in BEFORE you give him a "hot foot".

I met in Kevin in 1974, juggling apples and eating them at the same time. How can anyone ever forget that big smile and those giant handshakes he always gave when I seen him. One of the finest example of friendship and warmth I ever met. I will miss him very much.

Even though I knew Zero for a very short period of time, he always made our visit to Longbranch a special one. So personable and friendly, I don't think he ever met a stranger. I will miss seeing him, but know heaven gained a very special angel. Rest in peace, Zero.

Sachem Little Silver Ball, you will be sorely missed by your scouting brothers, and never forgotten. Who else could always put a smile on your face, remember all the words to an old camp song we learned 45 years ago, or eat a piece out of something while he juggled it? Your passion for life, scouts, music, and your loyalty to your people was such an inspiration for me and for others.
RIP, my friend, for it is well.
