Oak Grove, Missouri - Merna L. "Nickie" Mansell Pease, of Oak Grove, MO passed away peacefully on July 20, 2021. Merna was born in St. Francis, Kansas, daughter of Wayne L. Eckhardt and Mary L. Shull Eckhardt. Merna is preceded in death by her daughter, Judy DeLong (Jim) of Pleasant Hill, Grandson Sean Mansell, her parents, husband, sister and brother. Merna lived in Nebraska until 4 years of age when the family moved to Monterey, California. In 1948 she married Joseph L. Mansell and relocated to Oak Grove where they lived for 11 years before moving to Blue Springs. Among her many accomplishments, she raised four wonderful children, was Den Mother for Pack 266 in Oak Grove and was on the Cub Scout Training staff for several years. Merna enjoyed tole painting, crocheting, crafting, was a member of the Flying Harleys of Independence and a member of First Baptist Church of Blue Springs. Merna worked at the Ramada Inn on Noland Road in Independence and John Knox Village in Lee's Summit as Supervisor of Dining Facilities. In 1975, the family moved to Las Vegas, and later to Hawthorne, Nevada with her second husband, Donald A. Pease. Merna worked at the Hawthorne Ammunition Storage Depot retiring in 1980. After the death of her husband, Merna came back to Marceline, MO before settling in her existing residence in Oak Grove. Survivors include a sister Marylon Simpson, of Oregon, son Bill Mansell (Betsy) of Blue Springs, daughter Sheryl White (David) of Marceline, and daughter Jowain Wayman of Pleasant Hill, 12 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Memorial service will be Thursday, August 5, 2021 at 11:00 am at White Oaks Crossing Clubhouse, 901 White Oaks Lane, Oak Grove, MO. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.
