Paul Apprill
May 16, 1944 - January 22, 2025
Overland Park, Kansas - It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Paul Apprill on January 22, 2025, after many years of bravely battling health challenges. Paul was a man of remarkable intelligence, kindness, patience and courage. Despite not always enjoying school, he earned a degree in engineering and as a young man, established his own engineering firm. As a boss, Paul was beloved by his team for his generosity and leadership.
A dedicated father, Paul never missed an event for his children, spending countless hours either coaching or cheering them on at football, basketball, volleyball, drill team performances, plays, and musicals. His love for athletics continued throughout his life, from football to racquetball, soccer, tennis, and golf. He was also a voracious reader and the true definition of an autodidact, always learning and growing.
Paul had a natural ability to connect with others and truly never met a stranger. His kindness left a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing him. Later in life, Paul was able to truly enjoy his deep love for nature, creating a sanctuary in his yard where birds, squirrels, rabbits, and other animals found a safe haven.
Paul is preceded in death by his wife Kathy, son Paul, parents, Raymond and Doris, and siblings, Arnold and Mary. Paul will be deeply missed by his family, friends, colleagues, and all whose lives he touched. His unwavering love, strength, and passion for life will forever be cherished. Though his physical presence is no longer with us, his spirit will continue to guide and inspire those who were fortunate enough to share in his journey.
A funeral mass will be held at Queen of the Holy Rosary Church on Wednesday, February 19, 2025. Visitation will begin at 9:30 AM, followed by the funeral mass at 10:30 AM. Paul will be privately interred at Resurrection Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to one of Paul's favorite charities, Unbound (
