Perry Bacon Obituary

Perry Bacon
December 10, 1946 - July 22, 2023
Kansas City, Missouri - In loving memory of Perry Bacon,
Perry Higginson Bacon Sr., 76, of Kansas City, MO passed away on Saturday July 22nd, 2023 surrounded by his four loving children.
Perry Bacon was born in Long Beach, CA to Josiah and Helen Bacon. He was raised in Winchester, Massachusetts and from an early age, he displayed a passion for sports, excelling as a competitive junior tennis and hockey player. His high school years were spent at St. Marks preparatory school in Southborough, MA.
Perry attended the University of Pennsylvania where he lettered in three varsity sports: tennis, hockey and lightweight football. After graduating from The Wharton School of Business, he embarked on a successful career in financial services. It was during this time that he met and married his first wife, Susan, with whom he had two beloved sons, Perry Jr. and Clark.
Perry's professional journey led him to become a leading executive at EF Hutton, where he started and managed one of the most successful offices in the firm's history. Later on, he was recruited to be the President and CEO of BC Christopher, a prominent regional investment bank and brokerage firm in Kansas City. Under his leadership, the firm underwent significant growth, culminating in its sale to Oppenheimer.
Not one to rest on his laurels, Perry's entrepreneurial spirit drove him to acquire Knit Rite, a Kansas City-based medical company, which he successfully ran until the business was sold in 2005. It was also during this time that Perry completed a Masters program at Harvard Business School.
In Kansas City, Perry found love once again, marrying Pam, with whom he had two cherished daughters, Taylor and Courtney.
Over the last decade, Perry divided his time between Kansas City and his home in La Quinta, California. He embraced life to the fullest and was an active member of both La Quinta Country Club and Indian Hills Country Club, creating fond memories with friends and loved ones.
Perry wore many titles in his lifetime: son, brother, husband, athlete, Marine, and businessman but his proudest role was that of father. Perry loved his children with every fiber of his being and was present in every aspect of their lives. He instilled his passion and drive in all of his children. One of his greatest joys was the countless hours he spent watching his children play sports–he rarely missed a competition. Perry viewed every day as an opportunity to learn and started each morning by reading the paper and doing the New York Times crossword (in pen), often with one of his children. Perry was known for his entertaining sense of humor and famous sharp wit.
Perry Bacon's legacy will be one of dedication, achievement, and the love he shared with his family and friends. His warm smile, kind heart, and unwavering spirit will be missed dearly by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Perry was predeceased by his mother Helen Bacon and father Josiah Bacon. He is survived by his children Perry Bacon Jr (Larissa Bacon), Clark Bacon (Sabrina Bacon), Taylor Schmidt (Austen Schmidt), Courtney Bayles (Colson Bayles), granddaughter Skylar Schmidt, his brother Ben Bacon, and sisters Helen Fussell and Mary Whorton.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Folds of Honor, a charity that was near and dear to Perry. At Perry's request there will be no funeral at this time but a celebration of life will be held on May 17th, 2024 at Indian Hills Country Club @ 5pm.
May he rest in peace, forever in our hearts.

I worked with Perry at ef Hutton and knew him well. Kept in casual touch over the subsequent years. He combined skill, integrity and energy in a rare and exceptional fashion. Good person.

I am so sorry for your loss. Perry was one of my favorite neighbors, and I´m going to miss seeing him around the Sulgrave.
He was hilarious and always had a great attitude... such a generous guy, too, and was quick to offer a hand when needed. There were so many times that he had me laughing out loud.. We´ll miss his sense of humor and wonderful presence in the building.

Perry Jr, Clark,Taylor and Courtney,

I am so sorry to hear of your Dad´s passing. He was so proud of all of you and I loved his enthusiasm for all of your sporting events. He and Pam´s father were quite the pair going from game to game. I´m sure he and Rich will continue cheering all of you and your children´s accomplishments and competitions from above. Your dad was always such a gentleman and so kind to me. I appreciated his friendship.

With love,
Terry Madden Myers

Sending heartfelt condolences to all family members. I had not seen Perry (whom I still think of as Winkie) for many years, but I have many memories of him from my childhood, when I would spend the night with Mary (then Mardges). It sounds as though he had a full and fruitful life and a wonderful family. Katharine (cousin, then called Kathy)
