On October 22, 2014, Ralph Bobbitt passed away at 86 years of age at his home in Independence, Missouri. A memorial service will be held at the Stone Church in Independence, MO on Nov. 2nd at 4p.m. Ralph was born in Houston, TX. He graduated with honors from Regan HS in 1945 and accepted a combined basketball and football scholarship from Rice University. One sportswriter opined that he was possibly the best defensive basketball player in the Southwest Conference. While at Rice, Ralph was also a standout vocalist with the university's opera club, according to the Houston Chronicle. In three years, Ralph graduated from Rice University with a double major in biology and chemistry. After marrying his high school sweetheart, the former Burdina Root, Ralph became a full-time minister for his church. Ralph then obtained his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Texas. He was a college professor at Graceland University for 21 years.
