Reid Teaney Obituary

Reid Teaney

July 20, 1946 - June 18, 2024

Leawood, Kansas - Gary Reid Teaney, 77 peacefully passed away on June 18th, 2024. He was born in Kansas City, Missouri on July 20,1946, the first son of Milford and Dorothy Teaney, now both deceased. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Wayne Stuart Teaney on December 15, 2011. Reid married his beloved wife Barbara in June of 1976. Reid lovingly referred to his wife as "Mean." He and Barbara enjoyed traveling together and spending time with family and close friends. Reid and Barbara have a daughter, Lauren Elizabeth Teaney Krull (Matt), of Kansas City, Missouri. Reid also leaves behind a stepson, Tim Green and his wife Jill of Lee's Summit, Missouri. Reid has two granddaughters, Kathryn Reid Krull and Emily Elizabeth Krull, and two grandsons, Jackson Allen Green and Matthew David Krull, Jr. The grandchildren and many of their friends referred to Reid as Hops. Reid also leaves his sister, Martha Cornwell and his niece Maggie McGilley of Leawood, Kansas.

Reid was an incredibly faithful husband, father, grandparent and friend. He was a man of great integrity and honor. His overall presence, personality and work ethic were unmatched. Reid enjoyed a long and distinguished career in commercial real estate. Reid was always a man of his word and took great pride in anything that he did. The grandchildren often said that Hops could fix anything. Reid loved nothing more than spending time working in the yard on a beautiful day and sitting on his beloved screened in porch. He also enjoyed sitting on a chair in the driveway just visiting with neighbors. Reid loved being at Lake Lotawana with his family and friends. Reid was an amazingly supportive grandparent who attended countless sporting events to watch his grandchildren. He loved preparing for the holidays, whether that was putting up Christmas decorations, cooking or wrapping presents.

A Celebration of Life for Reid will take place on his birthday at Visitation Catholic Church, located at 5141 Main Street, Kansas City, Missouri 64112 on July 20th at 1:00 pm. All adults are welcome afterwards for a reception in Reid's honor at Mission Hills Country Club, located at 5400 Mission Drive, Mission Hills, Kansas 66208.
