Of all my teachers at SM West I think of Mr. Davis the most these days. I still remember some of the funny things he said, 35 years later now. I had him for World History and Civics. One of my favorite memories was when he was congratulating (but also gently ribbing) a student who had just made the drill team and was going on and on about it. He said, "You know, I was on drill team myself. It was called the United States Army. We were a really good drill team and we practiced a lot, every day." RIP, Mr. Davis. I hope you're standing behind a solid gold lectern somewhere now.

An exacting teacher, a provocative teacher and a great friend - the Big Toad is missed. Thanks for listening, your spot-on comments and your sense of humor. Evenings with you and Shirley were the best!

I remember Reynold sitting back, quietly listening to everyone´s viewpoints, and then either making a wry comment or asking a penetrating question. I also remember his undying support for teachers and students.

As a long time teacher at SMWest, it was a privilege to get to know Reynold! He was so special and kind to everyone including his students. They were drawn to his kindness and gentle way. I always knew where to go if I needed an uplifting word. What a fun and sweet man he was. My heart goes out to his family and his dear friend Seth McClintock.

Al and I taught with Reynold at Shawnee Mission West. Al was a colleague in the Social Science Dept. and I taught English. We respected Reynold as a scholarly, gentle man. I remember the beautiful tea roses in his yard.

Davis,
One of the most intelligent individuals I have known. He was committed to the fight for student and teacher rights. His humor was his defense in that struggle.

"Gramps" was a very sweet and humble man. He loved April and Grant and they loved and respected him so very much. He will be missed.
