Richard Compos Obituary

Richard Compos
April 11, 1950 - July 10, 2022
Kansas City, Missouri - Richard Anthony Compos of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away July 10, 2022, surrounded by family at St. Luke's Hospice House. He was 72. Richard had a contagious laugh, a warm embrace and a larger-than-life endearing personality. He was born in Kansas City, Missouri, to John Compos and Modest (Rivas) Compos. He served in the Army during the Vietnam War and was a proud veteran. In 1972, his only child, Monica Pendleton, was born. Her daughter, Aysia Pendleton, was born in 2000 and a loving duo became a trio. After Monica's unfortunate passing in 2011, Richard became a wonderful father all over again. One of his fondest memories in his youth was playing baseball for the Aztecas in the 1970s and '80s with his dad. He worked for 27 years for the Post Office and retired in 2010. He is survived by his sister Janet Lapadino; his granddaughter; five nieces and nephews; 11 great nieces and nephews; and many cousins. In addition to his daughter, he was preceded in death by his parents and brother John Edward (Johnny Boy). Visitation is at 5 p.m. on July 21 at McGilley Memorial Chapel-Midtown. Burial is the next morning at 11 a.m. at Leavenworth National Cemetery.

As of yesterday, you have been gone one year. I have so many memories that I cherish of "us".
You are my person, and you can´t be replaced. Your one of a kind, I love you.

Our Grandbaby has left Nana´s Nest. She has her own place and has informed me she is fine except that she still misses you terribly.
Richard, this girl loves you so much! She is grieving you more than she did her Mother. I´m sure she didn´t fully understand the "death concept" when we lost Monica as well as she does now that she´s grown up. All I can tell her is that she will be with you again, but in the meantime you don´t want her to be sad, you want her to live her best life. Rest Peacefully, love Sherry

You are missed by so many, especially our Grand Daughter. The two of you were so close, it breaks my heart to know she is missing her "PoPo" and I don´t even have the words to comfort her. I just remind her that she needs to cherish all the memories the two made, and to know you are & always will be watching over her. I love you and am still trying to wrap my head around the fact that you are gone, it isn´t easy. Your with Monica and I´ll see you both when I get there.
