Jake loves his family so much he wouldn't even purchase anything without at getting his wife's approval that was Tahoe. He was so proud of himself paying cash for it. He loved his daughter so much. He had so much faith in her. He said he would be there till the end with her because she was that special. He was right she is special.

Jake was one of the best attorneys I could send one of my clients to. He was on top of everything. I miss him so much

I left a note earlier and it must not have loaded which gives me the opportunity to let Jake's family and friends know that even today--and more so-- I am so full of sorrow to think this gentle giant Jake is not here to bounce my ideas, fears and questions of life's meaning off of. My mother and I always called him "matter of fact Jake," but we both knew and all of you reading this know he was much more than that. He had a keen sense of honor, empathy and, most of all, loyalty. He once told me I was one of the smartest people he ever knew I just lacked good judgment. There it was. My life in one line. He had the remarkable capability to summarize people, events, and quality of life issues into a few words. He was always spot on and never afraid to lay it on the line for his friends and family. In today's world we need more Jakes and the impact he had on me will live on forever. I hope he knew that and take comfort in the fact that those reading this now know that!

Dear Family of "Jake",
You won't know me by name. I am the mother of Weston Sechtem. Wes and Jake went to Law School together and became friends. Jake was a true friend who went beyond his duty when Wes was in need of help/support; and, I was unable to be there for Wes as
I live in Nebraska. Although Jake and I never met, we talked several times on the phone. I was never able to
thank Jake enough for his tremendous giving of time and experience to help a friend and mother in need.
His kindness will never be forgotten by this mother and
son!!! Bless Jake!!

Jake was a mentor and an influence on my entire legal career. He was more than helpful and kind to a rookie prosecutor. He will be missed.

To Rhonda, Shanna and Vince, so sorry to hear of your loss. Jake was not only an outstanding attorney who cared for his clients, but became a true friend throughout the 25 years I have known him. I was never around him without him sharing a story, a laugh or two and more importantly some guidance. I don't think I ever had a conversation with him that did not include Rhonda, Shanna or Vince, he loved you all very much. He will always be remembered for his "dominant" exterior and "soft and caring" interior. Great man, great husband, great father, great grandfather.......you will be missed my friend.

My heartfelt prayers go out to Rhonda, Shanna and Vince........RIP Jake!

Jake Jacoby gave me the best advise. He inspired, molded and lectured me into who I am today. I wish I could have found a way to repay him for not only saving my life, but teaching me how to be a better man. My heart goes out to all of his family. Thank you Jake for guidance through the darkest times of my life. I cant express how much you meant to me. He wasnt just an attorney to me. He was a mentor.
Sometimes you get the bear, sometimes the bear gets you.
He said that to me after I was released from federal custody. I wrote that on the back of one of his cards and carry it in my wallet.

RIP

Paired with Chris Stockard they became the most dominating second row in USA club rugby. Stoic sometimes, demonstrative at other times.. Solid teammate and a winner. RIP Jake.

Jake was a great guy, an excellent attorney, a pain in the rear if you were a prosecutor, and a lot of fun to be around. He was an extremely proud husband, father, and grandfather. He always had a smile and a good story. He's somebody I wish I'd gotten to spend a lot more time with and will be greatly missed. David Parman

Our thoughts are with you at this time. Jake was always great to work against and even better to visit with. When we had a chance to talk, it was always very clear how much he cared about his family and how much he appreciated the opportunities to be with them. He will be very sorely missed.

Our hearts go out to you and your family. Although we do not know exactly what to say, we want you to know that every time he was in Worth County, he always had a smile on his face and he was always sharing his "Vince" stories. Rhonda and Shanna, I am saddened by the news of Jakes passing, and am very sorry for your loss. Jake became a good and respected friend of mine from working out together. The last time I had an opportunity to visit with him, his career as an attorney was flourishing, and he was making plans for moving to Blue Springs.

Rhonda and family, I wanted to express my sympathy to you on the passing of a good man. I had not seen Jake in several years but still have great memories from our days at UMKC and beyond. To say Jake lived a full life is an understatement. Please know I am keeping all of you in my prayers.
