Dick Voss was a class act guy. I am just now learning of his death and so sad I was not able to see him or talk with him again before he died. Dick was a year older than I at Southwest but somehow we got to know each other. In college we reconnected for a couple of years... this was at the time when his brother, Bill, died Bill's death had a profound affect on Dick and I remember he carried a deep grief and sense of loss for him for the rest of his time at M.U. After I graduated I lost touch with Dick ... someone said he was working on a boat or ship in the Gulf and I remember thinking that would have suited him. To be out on the water, spending time with a crew but also having time to be alone. He was an interesting mix of introvert and extrovert... but mostly introvert, I imagine. I have thought of him often over the years and am glad to see in the remembrance written on the SW website that he had a family and was involved all his life in the great outdoors... he always had such an appreciation for nature. His picture on the SW site made me smile. He looks almost the same as he did in college except for the white hair replacing his dark hair. Same big kilowatt smile. Mainly, I'll remember Dick was being a really good person: sensitive, funny, intelligent, and always kind. The world was a better place for him being in it.
