Rose Lohoefener Obituary
Rose M. Lohoefener passed away peacefully Wednesday, March 1, 2006, at Villa Saint Joseph in the presence of her family. Visitation will be at 9 a.m., followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m., Saturday, March 4, at Cure of Ars Catholic Church, 9401 Mission Road, Leawood, KS, 66206; with burial in Resurrection Cemetery, Lenexa, KS. The family suggests memorial contributions to the church in her name. Rose was born July 4, 1916, in Kansas City, KS, one of five children born to Joseph and Olga Cyhel. She graduated from Redemptorist High School and Dickenson Business College. She worked at McDowell Tire Company where she met the love of her life, Wilmot Lohoefener whom she married on May 1, 1946. She was the office manager for her brother, Dr. Walter Cyhel's dental office for 20 years. She delighted in getting the scoop because the patients didn't know she was the doctor's sister. Rose was a dedicated wife and mother. Her focus was her family. She stayed involved in her children's lives and gave advice whether solicited or not. She took many vacations to visit her children and never missed an important event in her children's or grandchildren's lives. In later years she stayed in touch as an avid emailer. She was very close to her sisters and enjoyed their frequent lunches, shopping sprees, and vacations together. She was known as Aunt Rose to many nieces and nephews. She looked forward to family gatherings at the holidays. Rose was a member of Cure of Ars Catholic Church. Jesus was a special part of her life and she was devoted to Mary, St. Joseph, and St. Anthony. She was joyous as her time on earth was ending because she knew she was leaving this world to enter the kingdom of God. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends. Survivors include her son, Douglas Lohoefener and his wife, Debbie, of Bend, OR; daughter, Susan Ehlers and her husband, Bill, of Leawood, KS; daughter, Sharon Lohoefener of Santa Barbara, CA; sister, Florence Cyhel of Kansas City, KS; and grandchildren, Jon Lee, Nicole Lee, Chris Lohoefener, and Juli Lohoefener. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilmot Lohoefener; sister, Josephine Harn; and brothers, Stan Cyhel and Dr. Walter Cyhel. (Arr: D.W. Newcomer's Johnson County Chapel, 913-451-1860)
