Rose Rooth Obituary

Dr. Rose Marie Rooth (Correa), 82, passed away on Oct. 10, 2025 at Sunshine Village Memory Care in Phoenix.

Born Feb. 7, 1943 to Nellie and Louis Correa in Kansas City, KS, Rose dedicated her life to teaching and the belief that everyone, especially those who came from or encountered difficult circumstances, had a chance for a better life through education. She was a mentor, community leader, and a friend to many.

Growing up without modern conveniences, her own education started at a segregated school, but with the expectation that she'd be one of the first in her Mexican-American community to go to college, finishing high school at Rosedale. She did, graduating from Emporia State Univ, where she met Stew Rooth. For nearly five decades, Rose was a teacher, principal and then superintendent at schools in Kansas, Pennsylvania, Arizona (Jeddito/Laveen/Prescott), Texas and Vermont. She taught across all grades, including college classes, and earned her master's and doctoral degrees at Arizona State University.

Preceding Rose in death were her parents, younger brother Robert, and husband Stew Rooth. She is survived by her daughter Jill, son Brian, older sister Virginia Creager, her nephew Robert Jones, Emily, Troy, Shawn. In lieu of flowers, the family asks memorial donations be directed to any worthy scholarship program.
