RUSSELL MANTOOTH Obituary

RUSSELL J. MANTOOTH Russell J. Mantooth, 69, of Edwardsville, KS passed away Monday, March 12, 2018 at Providence Medical Center in Kansas City, KS. Visitation will be 2-4 p.m., memorial service at 4 p.m. Saturday, March 17, at the Alden-Harrington Funeral Home in Bonner Springs, KS. Family burial to follow later in Glenwood Cemetery in Basehor, KS. This will be a double service with his grandson, K.C. Alexander Joe Gillespie, who passed away Sunday, March 11, 2018. The family suggests memorial contributions to the American Diabetes Association in care of the funeral home. Russell was born on Feb. 11, 1949 in Independence, KS and has been a longtime area resident. He graduated from Wyandotte High School in 1967 and then served in the U.S. Navy. More recently he retired from B.P.U. in KCK where he worked for many years in the Water Department. He loved fishing and spending time with his grandchildren. He enjoyed his trips to Branson and was an avid sports fan dedicated to the Chiefs, Royals and K.U. He was preceded in death by grandson K.C. Alexander Joe Gillespie on March 11. He is survived by his wife of 48 years Kathryn of the home; two daughters Michelle Gillespie of Edwardsville, KS and Trishia Duarte-Martinez (Napoleon) of Edwardsville, KS; sister Claudia Smith of Basehor, KS; 7 grandchildren Valencia, Danielle, Marissa, Salina, Mariah, Quentin and Parker; and four great grandchildren Kali, Travis, Camden and Leah.
