Sandy Beach Obituary

Sandy Beach
February 17, 1947 - October 24, 2020
Kansas City, Kansas - Sandy Beach died peacefully at home at age 73. Her death was not COVID related.
She was born Sandy Ann Beach to Caroline M. and Gerald Paul Beach. Survivors are a sister, Coral Beach; two brothers and their wives, Jerry and Vera Beach, and Bob and Marie Annette Beach; nephew Ronnie Beach; nieces Karen Beach Erwin and Wendy Beach Burke; two great nieces; four great nephews; two great-great nieces and one great-great nephew.
Sandy worked for 20 years for the State of Kansas.
While working for SRS she supervised staff making payments to child care providers so parents could re-enter the work force.
Later, at KU Medical Center Hospital she developed the Interpreter Services program and was its first director. Now every admittance desk in the hospital and its clinics offers interpreter services in more than a dozen languages. Countless people with hearing impairments, as well as non-English speaking patients, have received better care because of Sandy's efforts.
Sandy graduated from Washington High School in 1965. She attended KCK Junior College. She worked in various accounting positions, including at Western Electric and Standard Oil.
Memorials are suggested for the KCPT-TV Channel 19 public television channel.
A memorial gathering is planned for 2 p.m. Oct. 23, 2021, at the Beach Shelter house, Wyandotte County Lake on Leavenworth Road in KCK. No flowers or plants, please.
