I met Terry in the Kansas City Writers Group in 1974 or `75. She immediately took began mentoring me and made me feel completely welcome, confident to write, even. Terry invited me to her home for lunch one day after class. She introduced me to Lindy. My circumstances changed and I had to drop out of the class the next year. Over the years, I´ve thought of Terry often. And Lindy. I´m so grateful for our brief but wonderful friendship.

Terry had a gift for friendship. An accomplished writer, intrepid traveler, and matriarch of a large, loving family, she always made time to bring people together. In a culture full of dividers, she was a uniter. Our bruised world could use more people like Terry Peck.

It was a perfect September day...warm and a cloudless, azure sky. Terry, Lindy, and I were enjoying ourselves on my patio when a kaleidoscope of monarch butterflies landed on my butterfly bushes by the patio. While they were feeding on the flowers, they flew and fluttered around our heads and landed on our shoulders. Terry was delighted! I was a magical moment that I will never forget. She loved the garden.

My heartfelt sympathies to Don and family. I only met Terry once but felt her warmth and kindness immediately. Knowing Lindy and Julie, this warmth and kindness is a natural part of this family. All the gifts and memories of Terry live in your heart, your words and actions.

I have such fond memories of Mrs. Peck. I spent much time growing up at their house on Mohawk Drive. The love and laughter was so apparent in their family . I remember the night they asked me to stay for cheesecake, which I had never tried before. It was strictly homemade delicious strawberry cheesecake and a glass of milk for the whole dinner and I was thrilled to not have to eat vegetables and meat for dinner. What a joy! She was a great example of a lovely wife and Mother. So happy to have known and loved the whole family. I will be present at funeral.
