THEODORE GOECKELER Obituary

Theodore "Priest Ted" Goeckeler, Jr., 71, passed away November 12, 2011 at his home, surrounded by family. He was a lifelong Kansas City resident and member of the New Apostolic Church, where he served as a Priest from 1976 to 2004. He was a 1958 graduate of Westport High School and was a retired Ironworker from the Ironworker's Local Union #10. Ted is survived by his wife of 49 years, Virginia (Long); children: Kathleen Inness (Kevin), of Kansas City, Theodore III, of Kansas City, Douglas (Tracey), of North Sioux City, SD; grandchildren: Heather, Darrell, and Trina; brother, Fred Goeckeler, of Pittsburg, PA; and sisters, Clara Poole (Bob), of Raytown, MO, and Darlene Norman (Bill), of Overland Park, KS. Ted was a devoted servant of the Lord from his ordination as Sub-Deacon in 1962 until his death. He was a Sunday School and Youth teacher, and he traveled extensively as a minister to scattered members throughout the Midwest. A memorial service will be held at 8 p.m., Thursday, November 17, 2011 where he served at the New Apostolic Church, 8243 Spring Valley Rd, Raytown, MO, with visitation from 7-8 p.m., and fellowship thereafter. Contributions to the New Apostolic Church Youth Fund are requested, in lieu of flowers.
