Thomas Botz Obituary

Thomas E. "Tom" Botz, 83, of Overland Park, Kan., passed away Monday, December 31, 2007, at his home. Tom was born January 14, 1924, in Kansas City, Mo. He served in the United States Navy during World War II, flying "PBYs" in the South Pacific. Tom worked as a police officer for the Kansas City Police Department and later began his own general construction contracting company. He was a member of the Dwight Cowles Post of the American Legion. Golf was his hobby and passion. Tom was proud of the fact that he scored two hole-in-ones in his career. He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert E. and Ethel M. Botz; two brothers, Robert L. Botz and Jack Botz; sisters, Dorothy Calow, Rosemary Tucker and Vivian Marchio. He is survived by his wife, Doreen Moore-Botz; his children, Tom Botz and wife Marianne of Manhattan, Kan., Leslie Weaver of Olathe, Kan., and Margaret Marden and husband Bill of Overland Park, Kan.; grandchildren, Michael and Elizabeth Marden and Mathew Galbraith; sister, Sue Fetters of Oklahoma City, Okla.; sister-in-law, Anne Botz of Lenexa, Kan.; three great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be 9:30-10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 5, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 11300 W. 103rd St., Overland Park, Kan., and Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 a.m. Inurnment will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Kansas City, Mo. The family wishes to express their deepest appreciation to Dr. John Nelson and Tom's wonderful caregivers of Kansas City Hospice. Doreen,
I am so sorry about your loss...I know how hard it has been on you, especially the past few months, yet it is still hard to say goodbye.

I would have been there but my father passed away over the holidays and his services were about the same exact time on Sat. at St. Thomas More.
