Vincent Kearney Obituary

KEARNEY Reverend Monsignor Vincent L. Kearney, 85, of Kansas City, MO, passed away Tuesday, April 15, 2003, at St. Joseph Health Center. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Monday, April 21, 2003, at Christ The King Church, 8510 Wornall Rd., Kansas City, MO. Friends may call 5-8 p.m. Sunday, April 20, at Muehlebach Funeral Home, 6800 Troost Ave., where the rosary will be prayed at 6:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Health Center, 1000 Carondelet Dr., Kansas City, MO 64114. Monsignor Kearney was born January 4, 1918, in Kansas City, MO, where he lived all of his life. Msgr. Kearney was ordained into the priesthood on September 18, 1943, and served several parishes in the Diocese of Kansas City-St. Joseph, including serving as Pastor of Christ the King Church for 21 years before his retirement in 1978. He was preceded in death by his sister, Rose Kearney, and a sister-in-law, Maria Kearney. He is survived by a brother, Lee B. Kearney, and a nephew, Vincent L. Kearney, both of Overland Park, KS. Monsignor,

Thank you for all the memories of Christ The King, from movies in the church basement, candy tosses on the playground and especially the altar boy picnics. I will always be proud to say that I was an altar server when you said mass. Through my stories, my children know you as well. God bless!
