Walter L. Wilkin

Walter L. Wilkin, 91, Raymore, MO passed away June 25, 2008 at the home of his niece Helen Cunningham. Has was born August 15, 1916 to Walter & Alta Mae Wilkin. Walter was honorably discharged from the US Army on June 1945 after having spent 4 years & thirty eight months over seas in the South Pacific. He received a Bronze Star on his theatre ribbon for involvement with the victory in Guadalcanal. Walter worked for the Kansas City Star from 1951 until his retirement in 1978. He was married to Ernestine Kirker on April 7, 1946. They were married for 46 years, until her death on Oct 25, 1992. He is preceded in death by; parents, brothers, Glenn Wilkin, Lloyd Woodman; sisters, Neva Beebe, Ruby Thomas, and Lois Baker. Survivors include, many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. After his retirement in 1978, farmed soybean in Bosworth, MO. In 1996, he moved to his nieces home in Raymore.
