WILLIAM BIGGAR Obituary

Bill Biggar was born on December 9, 1962 in Kansas City, Missouri. His death was recorded on June 23, 2016. Bill was the son of Susan Bagby Biggar and Edward Biggar. In 1981, he graduated as a member of the National Merit Society from the Pembroke Country Day School, a place where he formed lifelong friendships, and developed a deep love for learning. Bill was a member of the floor committee for the 1982 Jewel Ball and an escort in the 1989 BOTAR Ball. He received a bachelor's degree in English from Occidental College in 1985. Upon graduation, Bill spent a year teaching English at Seabury Hall School in Maui, Hawaii - always one of his favorite places. Bill returned to Los Angeles and became involved in a tech start-up, Friden, Inc., from 1987 until 1989. His writing talent led him to a career first in advertising and then in television production. Between 1989 and 1996, he worked for four national advertising agencies and helped create many award-winning ad campaigns. Bill's writing projects were numerous and varied. He wrote jokes for several Dennis Miller comedy albums and numerous greeting cards for Hallmark. In addition, Bill co-wrote the 1994 documentary film "Whizzo, Old Gus, and Me: The Lost History of Kids' TV," which gave him the opportunity to have lunch with the famous Kansas City TV personality Whizzo [the late Frank Wizarde] himself. Bill was a co- creator of Word Warp, a syndicated word game that first appeared in newspapers in 1995, and continues in syndication in many markets today. He also wrote several newspaper columns about the internet in the late 90s, when few people knew what it was. Bill worked as a writer and producer for the Kids' WB Television network from 1997 until 2006, where he worked on such shows as "Pinky and The Brain" and "Animaniacs." He savored every moment of his time with Warner Brothers. Over the years, Bill authored many screenplays and several books, including "They Sued for Millions: A Study of Big Money Lawsuits of the Last Ten Years," and "Danger Zones: What Parents Should Know about the Internet." In recent years, Bill's interest in gaming led him to create a casino game based on sudoku. Aside from his varied accomplishments, Bill took immense pleasure in serving as a friend and mentor to many. He devoted countless hours to helping, and encouraging his friends with their projects or when difficulties arose. A member of Mensa, an organization for people with high I.Q.s, Bill had a natural ability to generate ideas and share with others, as evidenced by his many posts on Facebook. Bill was a gifted, complicated, loving son, brother, uncle and friend to many; blessed with a brilliant mind, insatiable curiosity and an enormous heart. He will be profoundly missed. Bill was preceded in death by his father, Edward Samuel Biggar and his brother, John Edward Biggar. Survivors include his mother Susan Bagby Biggar; his three sisters, Julie Anne Biggar Bruyere, Nancy Rea Biggar and Martha Susan Biggar; his brother-in-law, Jean-Louis Bruyere; niece, Emilie Bruyere; nephews, Matthew and Nicolas Bruyere; aunt, Linda Bagby Wasson (Gene); cousins, Ali Wasson, Cort Wasson (Chrissy), Sara Wasson Huff (Kevin); aunt Joan Bagby Lane; cousins George, John, Ross, and Tom Lane, and many more loving relatives and countless friends. A memorial service will be held at The Country Club Christian Church on Friday, July 8th, at 6101 Ward Parkway, KCMO at 2:00pm, visitation at 1:00pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Bill's memory to The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), 3803 North Fairfax Drive, Ste 100, Arlington, VA 22203, or the charity of your choice.

Miss you, Bill. The world became more dull when you departed it. Thank you for your inspiration . You were one of the most genuine and rare, friends I've ever been graced with meeting, and I'll miss you the rest of my days. Then we will find a coffee shop up yonder , and yuck it up evermore.

Bill is part of my good memories at Pembroke Hill. it was such a pleasure to reconnect with him. He would send me a note every now and then and have something nice to say about my son. I remember that he touched my life as a mother because had never met my son. He took time out to give something to a kiddo. I feel like he is still with us. My prayers and condolences go to Nancy and all of his family. I know this is late but Bill is so deserving of a tribute. I know that my words cannot do him justice.

So sad to hear about Bill's passing. Occidental in the 80's was a more vibrant, lively, hilarious place to be thanks to Bill. My heart goes out to all his family and friends.

Bill, we were only friends for about 2 years, but we were close. Our conversations usually lasted 2 to 4 hours on the phone, many times, we spoke many times, hung out many times, and we last spoke a few nights before your passing, you were in good spirits. You were an influential American, and always full of great ideas and influential thoughts, and always helped others. I just learned the news, and I offer your family my condolences. You were a great American while you were with us, and I know you will be remembered, I think of you often!

To Bill's family, you have my sincerest condolences. At Occidental, Bill was a confidante, a true friend, and just so much fun. His generous spirit was always present, as was his beautiful mind and sense of humor. I had hoped to see him in Southern California in the near future and it breaks my heart to not have that chance. The outpouring of love and affection in his passing underscores his profound impact on so many. Bill, may you be merry in that next great place, as you made so many of us during your time back here on Earth.

I was beyond saddened to read of Bill's passing. What an outstanding and brilliant man he was. We have lost a true one-of-a- kind human being. My heart goes out to his family and close friends. I am fortunate to hold great memories of Bill dating back to highschool - and know that even then...he was an old soul who had so much to share with the world.

God's thing for me is to thank you for your nature of being considerate and thoughtful. You came up to me and offered me a opportunity to do a whole cemetery in my landscaping...a big offer unlike anyone else had offered me! Having made the front page of the K.C. Star for my work, I thank you for your spirit, and wish the best of good in Heaven for you!!

His last message to me, on seeing this photo, was "Beautiful. Love you!"
My message to him now is the same: Beautiful being that you are, may your path be filled with beauty, peace and love.

Bill was a great guy. I grew up down the street from them. Marty and I were childhood friends. Bill was the older brother I never had. He introduced me to Elton John's music and the TV show Saturday Night Live. We would jump around the basement singing and having fun. I miss him. Sending lot's of love to the family!!!!!
