Bolivar, Missouri - Born on April 24, 1940, William D. (Bill) Goetze died on May 16, 2023 at the age of 83. Born to RW Goetze and Bessie Bohn Goetze, he grew up in Johnson County, Kansas, attending Roesland elementary school, Pembroke Country Day, and the University of Kansas.
Bill worked in radio advertising through the 1980s and was still recently involved with media. A resident of the Ozarks since 1999, he became a health insurance salesman when he found he could help others navigate the vagaries of Medicare.
If you were to look for Bill, you would find him at a Kansas City radio station, on the golf course at Quivira, Wolf Creek, or Silo Ridge, at a bridge table, on a sailboat, or years ago, with Toastmasters or the Magic Ring in Kansas City, or perhaps at the New Stanley, back in the day.
Bill leaves his daughter Andrea Goetze Wilkes, her husband Ren, and three grandchildren, Lauren Rose, Ava, and Roy of New Orleans, Louisiana and St. Louis, Missouri. All of his grandchildren could beat him at the card game peanut. Andrea recalls fondly the times she and her dad spent sailing on Stockton Lake listening to troubadour Jerry Jeff Walker. Also surviving are nephews Robert Walker and Steven Kane and their children in metro Kansas City.
