William Koehler Obituary

Dr. William J. "Bill" Koehler, 87, Kansas City, MO passed away June 23, 2007. Visitation will be from 9:0011:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 27, 2007 at Redemptorist Church, 3333 Broadway, Kansas City, MO, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Redemptorist Church, National Parkinson's Foundation or to Kansas City Hospice. Bill was born October 25, 1919 in Kansas City, MO to Dr. William J. and Olive (Greenwell) Koehler. He was a graduate of Rockhurst High School in 1936, Alpha Delta Gamma, Rockhurst College in 1940 and the Kansas City Western Dental College. He was a member of the Delta Sigma Delta Fraternity and Omicron Kappa Upsilon. Bill served in the Navy Dental Reserve Corps and retired as Captain from the reserves where he served as the commanding officer. He also served during WWII in the South Pacific Fleet Marine Force and at Camp Pendleton during the Korean War and was a member of the Veteran's Dental Study Club. Bill was also a former board member of the KC Epileptic Association, a life member of the ADA, Missouri State Dental Association, Kansas City District Dental Society, former member of the Milburn Country Club, provided volunteer services for the Little Sisters of the Poor and the House of the Good Shepherd. He was the first male PTA President of St. Elizabeth School. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Mary Catherine Koehler, John E. Koehler, Betty Ann Kopp and Vincent D. Koehler. Survivors include his loving wife and best friend of 62 years, Mary Jane Koehler; his children, Marilynn Wright-Hoover and husband Lynn Hoover, Kathleen Jacot and husband Andy, Kristine Koehler, Julie Koehler and Jay Koehler; grandchildren, Kim Owens, Christopher Gramlich, Brian Doyle and Julie Ryan Koehler; great grandchildren, Natalie, Ashley, and Abby Owens, Jenna, Christopher, Sam, Hank, Molly Gramlich; family friends George Kopp, Marieann Koehler, Anita MaLott and Tim Tripp; many nieces and nephews.
