William E. Simmons
September 17, 2021
Lenexa, Kansas - William Earl Simmons, 84, of Lenexa, KS passed away on September 17, 2021. He was born December 30, 1936 in Detroit, Michigan to Earl Simmons and Vera (Reid) Simmons. Bill graduated from Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan and served in the U.S. Army during the Berlin Crisis in 1961-1962. He married Charlotte Remus on December 10, 1966 at St. Mary's Church in Detroit, Michigan. Bill's career included working at the Ford Motor Company's River Rouge and as a contractor in the Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning field. Bill owned EnvironMetal Contractors and also served as a board member of ASHRAE trade association. Bill and Charlotte moved to Kansas City in 1980 with their four children. Bill loved his family and many friends, playing golf, Kansas City barbeque, and all things political. Dad was always happy to talk to you. Always well dressed and presenting his best fashion sense, we will miss his humor and fun conversation.
Bill is survived by his wife, Charlotte, four children and seven grandchildren: Anneliese of Bethesda, MD and her children Sam and Meg, Stephen (Amy) of Port Chester, NY and their children Charlie and Grace, Daniel (Zoe) of San Francisco, CA and their daughter Violet, and Sarah (Walter) of Washington, DC and her children Amelia and Madeline. Bill is having fun with his grandson Hank in heaven. Bill is also survived by his sister Mary Claire Stanners of Novi, Michigan and many nieces and nephews.
His visitation will begin at 9:30 am with Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10:30 am Thursday, September 23, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church Stone Chapel, 9130 Pflumm Road, Lenexa, KS.
In lieu of flowers, Bill respectfully requested memorial contributions to the Parkinson's Foundation.
