Carl Albin Shold Obituary
Died: Feb. 23, 2012; in Rockford
ROCKFORD – Carl Albin Shold, 92, of Rockford died Thursday, Feb. 23, 2012, in his home, surrounded by the love of his family. He was born Sept. 8, 1919, in Mansfield, Ohio, the son of Fred and Mayme (Nordquist) Shold. He served in the U.S. Navy from December 1942 through Deccember 1945 as a senior grade lieutenant.
He married Helen Schumacher on June 29, 1943. He was a graduate of the General Motors Institute of Technology with a degree in Industrial Engineering. He was employed with General Motors, J.L. Clark, and Brunswick Corp. Carl was a charter member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his wife, Helen; sons, Alan Shold of Geneva, and Brian (Terri) Shold of Twin Lakes, Wis.; three daughters, Marilyn Scafe of Rockford, Betty (Bob) Madderom of Rhinelander, Wis., and Mary Wells of St. Charles; 11 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren; and cousin, Ingrid Bilgren of Sweden; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by parents; and brother, Lawrence Shold.
Memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 27, in Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 4700 Augustana Drive, Rockford, with Pastor Kenneth R. Storck officiating. Visitation will be from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Monday before the service in the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Gloria Dei Lutheran Church or OSF Hospice Care of America, 3815 N Mulford Road, Rockford, IL 61114. Helen may you find comfort in knowing Carl had a long and good life. He was one of the friendliest neighbors we had. I enjoyed his good nature and big smile and wave when he saw us. He is at peace. Your neighbor from the "old neighborhood"
