Eileen Elizabeth Falconer

ST. CHARLES - Eileen Elizabeth Falconer, nee Christiansen, 87, a former resident of St. Charles, died Easter morning, Sunday, April 12, 2009, at South Elgin Rehabilitation Center, where she had been a longtime resident.

She was born May 11, 1921, in Evanston, the daughter of William and Katherine Christiansen. She spent most of her childhood in Hinsdale and graduated from Nazareth Academy in LaGrange. She was awarded her nursing degree from Loyola University's Saint Anne's Hospital.

She joined Delnor Hospital in St. Charles as a staff nurse in 1961. Later she served as head nurse in several nursing units. Promoted to day nursing supervisor in 1974, she was named the hospital's employee of the year in 1980.

Eileen was an avid reader and began each day by working a crossword puzzle. She was an excellent seamstress who enjoyed sewing many of her own clothes. Additionally she was an avid, lifelong Cubs and Bears fan, who sent all newspaper clippings concerning the Bears and Cubs to her children when they were away from the Chicago area.

Eileen is survived by her four children, James, Robert (Jimmie Kay), Nancy and Stephen (Marcia); four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and her sister, Kathleen Bright of St. Charles.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Robert, and her brother, William Christiansen.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 17, at Norris Funeral Home, 100 S. Third St. (three blocks west of the Fox River and one block south of Route 64), St. Charles. The funeral will be at 5 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
