BATAVIA – Robert French, 88, of Batavia, and winter resident of Naples, Fla., passed away peacefully on Feb. 10, 2011, in Naples.
He was born Oct. 10, 1922, in Montello, Wis., the son of Harry G. and Margaret E. (Sheahan) French. He was the last surviving member of his family of 10 children.
He was united in marriage to Lois Weiland on May 17, 1947. Bob proudly served his country with the U.S. Army. He was employed at Walker Manufacturing Company for 30 years and retired as plant manager in 1984.
He was a life member of Knights of Columbus and Batavia Historical Society, a member of American Legion and Loyal Order of Moose.
He is survived by his loving wife, Lois, after 63 years of marriage; his son Kenneth (Pamela) French of Santa Fe, N.M., daughter Kathleen (Leonard) Stensing of Huntley; granddaughter Kelly (Paul) Barkhau of Oviedo, Fla.; and grandson, Eric Stensing of Chicago. He is further survived by sisters-in-law Pauline French of Annapolis, Md., and Wilma French of Naples and brothers-in-law Garland Fitzpatrick of Montello, Wis., and George (Iris) Weiland of Naples; also sister-in-law Mary (Thomas) Schwalbach of Greenfield, Wis.; and many nieces and nephews.
Interment will be private.
