Shee-Yee Lee Obituary

Shee-Yee Lee

Born: Jan. 22, 1937; in China

Died: Jan. 7, 2015; in Geneva, IL

Shee-Yee "Tony" Lee, age 78, of Geneva, passed away Thursday, January 7, 2015 at his home surrounded by family.

He was born January 22, 1937, in China, the son of Ying and Sun Yoke (Lam) Lee.

Tony came to the United States with his parents at the age of 20. He met and married his wife Jenny and they began their life together in Chicago. They moved to Geneva in 1969 where they opened Gen Hoe Restaurant, a local favorite.

Tony loved to cook and travel, particularly to San Francisco and Hong Kong. He had a great appreciation for different genres of music and loved to tinker with his stereo equipment. Tony was also skilled with a camera - a talented photographer and self proclaimed "Tech Geek". He was a wonderful husband, father, friend and will be missed by all those that knew him.

He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Jenny (Ng); children, Peter (Helen) and Philana both of Geneva; in-laws, Michael (Dolly) Ng, Angela (Michael) Driessen, Raphael (Cathy) Ng and Eddie (Kim) Ng; and many dear nieces, nephews and friends.

Tony was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral prayers for Tony will be held Monday, January 11, 2016 at 9:30 am at Malone Funeral Home, 324 East State Street (Route 38), Geneva proceeding to St. Peter Catholic Church 1891 Kaneville Road, Geneva for celebration of Funeral Mass at 10:30 am, Father Slawomir Zimodro, celebrant. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Geneva. Visitation will be held Sunday, January 10 from 3:00 until 7:00 pm at Malone Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to Make-a-Wish Foundation 640 N La Salle Dr., #280, Chicago, IL 60654 would be appreciated

Dear Jenny Lee and family,
My daughter in law, Ann, e-mailed me here in Florida to let me know Mr. Lee passed away. I'm so very sorry to hear of your loss.

It was you and my father, Mike Supitilov, who introduced us to Chinese foods and they've been a treat ever since,

My husband and his family, Dick Vanthournout and siblings loved to come to your restaurant and very much enjoyed seeing the whole family upon various occasions.

Know you're in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. Fondly, Jan Vanthournout

I thank you for many little visits in your restaurant in past years, at least 15 years ago, I have learned much from you and Mrs. Lee and have "always" enjoyed the most delicious foods served to me from your kitchens. I remember when I had my adopted Korean daughter's Baptism party in your restaurant and how you all took such time to make everything so special for me and my family.
You are a present to your family and everyone who had the pleasure knowing you.
