Stephen Foley Obituary

Stephen V. Foley
Born: August 23, 1947
Died: March 15, 2025
Stephen V. Foley, age 77, of St. Charles passed away peacefully, held and surrounded by loving family Saturday, March 15, 2025 due to pancreatic cancer.
Beloved son of Vincent 'Bud' and Vera (Borkowski) Foley, Steve was born August 23, 1947 in St. Charles, IL. He attended St. Patrick Catholic School in St. Charles, II, Marmion Military Academy (now Marmion Academy) in Aurora, II, and St. Benedict's College (now Benedictine College) in Atchison, Missouri. After graduation he joined the US Navy and served two tours of duty in Viet Nam upon the USS Ranger (CV-61) from 1968 to1972. He then attended Northern Illinois University, receiving his Masters Degree in one year. He rose through the ranks of the First National Bank of Batavia, retiring as Vice President in 1983. Additionally, in his early years he worked at the family-owned and operated business, Reber & Foley, in St. Charles, II.
Steve loved his family, his country, his lifelong Catholic faith, and a hot summer's day - the hotter the better! Always fit and active, he biked and exercised more than one could imagine. Some of his greatest joys were times spent traveling with his friends or brothers. He loved the water - from swimming and surfing in Hawaii or California, to water skiing on local lakes and rivers. He enjoyed numerous long-distance trips in his prized Corvette.
He took pride in the fact that his car brought family members many fond memories, and still does to this day.
He was a much loved brother, treasured uncle, and the most helpful of neighbors. He was a devoted son and became the primary caregiver for his ailing parents in their final years.
He is survived by his sister Evelyn (Randy) Johnson of Huntley, II, Mark (Bev) Foley of St. Charles, II, Larry (Vicki) Foley of St. Charles, Il, and David (Sandra) Foley of St. Charles, Il, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Joyce Foley, of St. Charles, II, and sister-in-law, Jennifer (Brainard) Foley.
Per Steve's request, his funeral Mass and services will be private and attended by the immediate family. Arrangements made by Yurs Funeral Home, St. Charles 630-584-0060 or yursfuneralhomes.com

Oh my.
I have known Steve since the first grade. His passing greatly saddens me.
He was a star on Bob Bugger's St. Patrick's basketball team. He was very competitive. I always enjoyed playing him in a sport he wasn't so good in.
He was a good guy. I will miss him.
