Carolyn Monaco Obituary
Carolyn Marie Monaco, beloved sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully at her Medford residence the evening of June 28 at age 89 ½.
She was born Christmas Eve 1935, to Albert M. and Marie G. Monaco, both deceased. Carolyn was proud to be a fourth-generation San Franciscan.
She was an alum of the Convent of the Sacred Heart in San Francisco a 1957 Speech Graduate from Cal Berkeley. Two years later she married Wayne Cornils and moved to Iowa.
In the early 1960's Carolyn and her family moved to Nampa, Idaho. She was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church where she volunteered extensively with the Altar Society. She was also active with the local Daughters of the American Revolution, Girl Scouts, and Elks. The family moved in 1976 to the greater Washington D.C. area. Carolyn was a faithful member of St. Mark Catholic Church in Vienna, VA. She also volunteered for the National Cherry Blossom Festival and the Idaho State Society. Carolyn supported Wayne in his radio broadcasting career until they divorced in 1985. She later lived in San Mateo, CA and Lakeview, OR before moving to Medford, Oregon.
Carolyn loved beautiful things and often used her talents to bring beauty into the world. Carolyn was an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed sewing clothes for others. Whether crafting intricate quilts and cross-stitch pictures, arranging vibrant floral displays, or finding just the right accent for a room, her artistic talents shone through. As a testament to her skill, her handiwork earned her numerous blue ribbons at the Lake County Fair in the 1990s. Outside of her creative pursuits, she enjoyed the camaraderie of a good bridge game and took joy in researching family genealogy.
Carolyn loved a good party, especially if there was dancing. She was keen at organizing events like the church holiday bazaar. She always strived to make things around her better with her discerning taste and sharp eye for detail. She would often catch friends and family off guard with her witty sense of humor. She lived at the Rogue Valley Manor for the past 20 years and made many friends while there. Her family thanks you for being Carolyn's friend!
She is survived by her only brother, Al Monaco (Loretta), her three children: Cathi Busse (Stan), Carrie Cornils (Kenny Wong), Chris Cornils (Kathleen).
