Eric Fraenkel Obituary

Eric Fraenkel, age 70, passed away peacefully on October 19, 2025, at 7:34 AM at Celia's House, surrounded by love and family. Eric is survived by his devoted wife of 50 incredible years, Laura, the love of his life. Laura was his everything-his partner, his strength, and the embodiment of passion, true love, and unwavering commitment. In his final days, Eric was comforted by the presence of his sister and brother, who spent precious time with him at Celia's House. His beloved niece Megan also made the heartfelt trip to be by his side. Eric's friends, who loved him deeply, came to visit and offer their love and support in his final days. Their presence brought comfort to Laura, who felt surrounded by the care of their lifelong friends during the darkest moments of her life. His daughter Shannon was truly his angel in the final months-selflessly stepping in to support Laura and Rick in any way needed. Eric's family meant the world to him, and he faced his final days surrounded by the people who loved him most. Eric was born in Northern California, where he spent his early years before meeting Laura, the love of his life. Together, they moved to Eugene, Oregon, to build a future filled with love, hard work, and family. A dedicated and driven professional, Eric began working for Erickson Air Crane in Central Point, Oregon, in 1978. Through years of commitment and leadership, he worked his way up from field maintenance to Vice President of Operations. In that role, he oversaw more than 800 employees and managed operations including overhaul and repair, manufacturing, external sales, project management, quality, FAA compliance, materials, and engineering. After an accomplished and impactful career, Eric retired in January 2013. Beyond his professional success, Eric will be remembered for his genuine heart and deep love for his family. He was a proud and loving Grandpa to his grandsons, Connor and Coby, who looked up to him as a leader and role model. His quiet strength, kindness, and actions spoke volumes, leaving a lasting impression on everyone who knew and loved him. In retirement, Eric cherished time spent traveling and creating unforgettable memories with Laura. Eric will be missed beyond words, but his legacy of love, dedication, and strength will live on through his family and all whose lives he touched. Rick I knew you since 1987. You were a good friend. Always admired your tenacity and love of life and work. I am heartbroken for Laura; she is a rock. And may God welcome you into his arms.

Rick was my first boss at Erickson Air-Crane and he was a joy to work for. I learned a lot from him and loved his energy and his great love for his family, someone to admire for sure. We kept in touch after he left Erickson and I will treasure the text messages we shared in the last few years, the last one on August 28th. He always had a positive outlook during the hard times. Rick, rest in peace and I know you are with God.

Rick was a pleasure to know and work for/with; it has been years since I had that opportunity and I am sad to hear that he was not able to fully appreciate his later years as much as he enjoyed his younger ones! He will always be in my heart as a person that worked to learn and teach.
